Promises, Pictures, & Peeing

AnnieFannie has requested that I upload the pictures that I had promised earlier and now that I have the *new* password to the server I can uphold these promises!

Here are two new photo albums:
Coachella Music Festival
August 2k7 Social Gathering

There have been a number of “blog-worthy” things that I’ve been up to recently so I have a good amount of fodder for some posts. As it is, it’s late and I’m tired so I’ll leave you all with this single nugget of blogging gold:

My neighbor has been having a problem recently with his house dailing 911. Since he doesn’t even have a land-line and since the phone calls typically happen when he’s not home, I guess some phantom phone is freaking out the system. Whatever. Just hold onto this fact in the back of your mind as it’ll be important in to the story I’m about to tell you.

A few Fridays ago my roommate had a big going-away party for her friend at our house. I have to work early every Saturday morning so a Friday night drink session wasn’t in the stars for me (even though I was coerced into drinking a “Tweekin’ Puerto Rican” – one shot of 151 dunked into, and chugged with, a Monster energy drink.) I was chillin’ on the couch with some friends late in the evening, finishing a home brew of mine, when I had to go to the bathroom. When I tried to enter into our only bathroom I found the door to be blocked by a young ladies leg. Turns out that the girl-of-honor had a few too many Tweekin’ Puerto Ricans and was spending the night on the bathroom floor. Dammit! I had to pee something fierce so I went into the back/side yard to my house to do my business.

I was a few seconds into my semi-public-pee-sesh when I saw, through the fence, a car pull up and park on the street…no problem, nobody can see me. Then I see a couple figures get out and walk towards the house…again, so long as nobody looks over the fence (and why would they do that??) I’m completely hidden from view. I turn my back to the street to finish my business when I hear, “Hey, what’s going on here??” I quickly zip up and turn around to see two police officers leaning over the fence, looking at me take a wicked-pisser. I try to act normal and quickly change the subject. Are you two here for a 911 call? You are? Well, it’s actually the neighbor that did it and he didn’t even do it, really. It was the phantom phone that’s the real culprit! etc. etc.

Not that it’s a big deal to pee in a private, concealed back yard but doing just about anything with a policeman watching makes me a little on-edge. Especially peeing.

Bee-Walking

By Ryan, June 5, 2008 5:07 pm

As I was walking to class today from East Parking (which is probably about a mile away from class, maybe two) I walked into a giant swarm of bees. I tried crossing to the other side of the road thinking that maybe there weren’t as many bees there – no dice. Then I tried to ignore the bees and weather this shit out. After the third bee hit my face (about 20ft into the swarm) I decided I was over it and walked back out of the swarm to wait for a bus. Needless to say I was late to class but I think it was worth it because as I was in the bus I saw that it would have taken me 70 to 80 yards of bee-walking before I would have been in the clear. I don’t like getting hit in the face with bugs and I certainly don’t like getting stung. Class can wait.

Yesterday, I started my second batch of homebrew which will be a summer wheat beer with hints of lime & orange. To get the orange/lemon flavor you have to “zest” the skin of the fruits. I purchased a zester and partook in my first zesting experience ever. After I had finished zesting a particularly juicy orange I looked down at my left hand and noticed I had actually zested a significant chunk of my fingernail! Luckily, due to the unique cut of a zester, the whole incident didn’t (and doesn’t) hurt at all. Be careful as you’re zesting, everybody!

Next week is finals week so I’m taking off from my internship. There isn’t much work to do at this time any ways…as it is, I’ve written this entire post while at work. : /
